The great thing about the LS swap is the aftermarket support and interchangeability of components. You have the ability to take an “LS Truck” motor and turn it into an LS3 clone. It also saves you 1.5″ of front accessory drive space. This means more room for electric fans, etc.

An LS balancer is a wear item. There is a rubber-like substance on the inside of the balancer that does the work of harmonic damping. Most LS engines are getting older now. It’s a lot of effort to swap an LS engine into a vehicle and it’s easier to swap a balancer on a engine stand.
